Home Visits

Doctor's bagWhilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.

In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception between 08:00 - 10:00.

It is only appropriate to request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.

People without their own transport are expected to make their own arrangements (for example a taxi) to come down to the surgery. Unfortunately, a lack of transport is not a reason for a home visit. Obviously there are not enough doctors in the world to visit everyone that doe snot want to pay for a taxi and this precious resource is intended for our most unwell patients.

Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.

Not all Home Visit Services are best provided by your GP

Depending on your needs you may be visited by your usual doctor, or another doctor in the practice, or by a District Community Nurse or by the Practice Community Nurse.

You may also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

We work very closely with our local palliative care teams such as the Rennie Grove Hospice and there may be occasions when your Home Visit needs are better provided by a member of that team rather than your GP.
